Crown - O - Suds

At today's bath, I decided since there were so many bubbles that I would make him this cool bath time hat. While he was in the bath tub, I noticed that telling look on his face when he has to "go." Chris quickly swooped him up and sat him on the toilet where he made is first poopy on the potty! We were stoked, but Cole looked a little upset. We even took a picture, but no, I won't be posting it.

The Wrap Up

This was Cole on the way home for about an hour. Our flight was about 4.5 hours. He did great while awake, too. Two flight attendants were going on about how great he did and calm he was asking "did we give him anything" before the flight (ie. baby benedryl). Then a lady passenger said she has four boys (they were grown and not with her) and ours did unusually well. Then a man getting off the plane that sat in our area told Cole, "great job!" Of course we were so proud and happy for him. He did equally as well on the way to Salt Lake. I was also happy to get off the plane and take a big deep breath of moist air.

To the Zoo!...and Beyond...

Today we took Cole to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. This was his first zoo experience. I wanted to get shots of his expressions when seeing the animals, but honestly he was unimpressed (or just really tired) except for the giraffe's in which case he let out a few excited squeals and pointed at them a lot. I didn't get pics of the animals because I figure anyone who is reading this has been or will be going to see zoo animals. The first picture is the one of him looking at the giraffe's. Cole fell asleep in his stroller on our way out of the zoo and we made an unprecedented transfer from stroller to car seat while he stayed asleep where he continued to sleep for the next 40 minutes until we arrived in Park City. Park City is a really nice town up in the mountains of Utah and is most known for hosting the Sundance Film Festival each year. It is also well known for skiing and snowboarding. After walking up and down main street, I think the shopping is pretty good, too, although we only ended up stopping at the Java Cow and buying a refreshing iced beverage. It was very telling of the type of town we were in when a band busted out some live music in the middle of the day...very cool. We only spent $32 the ENTIRE day....which, if you know us, is pretty amazing.....signs of the times, ay!

"Shaven" Baby Syndrome

Lately I've been wanting to cut Cole's hair again as it was getting too long already. I decided I wanted to shave it because it's just easier to manage and I thought it would be a nice summer cut. Chris likes it long on top so he can give him a mowawk, but since he got to decide for the first hair cut, it was my turn to decide this time. Chris even let me do the hair cut even though I had never used clippers before. I think I did a "bang up" job ;D !

Guadalahonkey's

We went to lunch today at this place called "Guadalahonkey's" mainly because of the name but also because I had a craving for Mexican.....again.

2 Peas...

This last Sunday we went to the Shopping District in Salt Lake City. It reminded me of a giant outside mall with a small road going through. It was really nice. We walked up and down on both levels and came across the Apple store and Chris was forced to go inside. Well, both of the boys were right in their element as Cole was trying to touch EVERYTHING and Chris was walking around with his eyes popping out of his head. We were lucky there was a kids area with computers set up they could play on. Yeah, Cole was LOVING it!

Seafood and Aquarium Snobs

This last Saturday we decided to go out for lunch and then hit another one of the attractions that Utah has to offer for kids called "the living planet aquarium." Apparently we had an ocean theme going that day because we opted for some seafood for lunch. The fried seafood, clam chowder and vegetables were good, but when it came to the real stuff, grilled fish, wow, I thought it had been dropped in the mop bucket to be marinaded. Seriously, it reaked and tasted of ammonia and the smell actually cleared my nasal passages. Not to mention we waited about 30 minutes for it and when I got it it was over cooked! I did what I NEVER do especially with a child now, I sent it back and had them fry some shrimp for me (what can I say, I'm pregnant and hungry). I was worried I was having pregnancy nose or I was maybe a seafood snob since I was from Fla. but Chris assured me after he smelled it, I had a legitimate concern and I should not eat the fish. Next we headed to the aquarium. Hypothetically, if one happened to be from Florida, one could accurately describe it as a series of average sized fish tanks (the size you find in people's homes) with your basic Nemo type fish (except for a shark and octopus that you could barely see). In all fairness though, the kids really could get up close and put their hands on the tanks and also pet some of the fish and stingrays. Chris commented that we could have seen more and petted more creatures at his parents aquarium/pet store for FREE (which is actually true). We got through the whole thing in about 45 minutes, but hey, for 15 bucks and watching Cole pet the slimy ray, it was worth it. Maybe we are aquarium snobs, too ;D

Celebrating the 4th in Utah

For the 4th, we went to the dinosaur museum on Thanksgiving Point. It was great as it was hands on and geared for kids. Cole is not a TV watcher and so was impatient with the "seamonster" video they played. Although, since it was 3D, whenever his glasses were on and some of the creatures would "come toward us" he would try to reach out and touch them. After the museum, we took a stroll through the botanical gardens next door....reminded me of Alice and Wonderland. Then we finished up with a couple of DELICIOUS milk shakes.....yum, yum!

Direct to SLC!

Hey Ya'll,

As most people know, our family traveled to Utah last Tuesday for about a 3 week trip. Chris is here for work and Cole and I are just tagging along. We have been here only a week and have taken lots of pictures. Here is the first round pics of only the plane ride here. I'm pretty sure Cole didn't know he was on a plane even though he will point to an airplane in the air if you say airplane. We took a direct flight from Orlando to Salt Lake very early in the am so we stayed in the airport hotel the night before. Cole went to sleep only when every light was out in the room and since Chris worked on his computer until 11pm, he stayed awake until Chris closed his computer even though every other light was off. I initially thought him getting 6 hours of sleep would hinder our peaceful plane ride, but turns out Cole caught up on his z's for the first couple of hours of our flight and helped get a jumpstart to his acclimation to the time change. Anyway, keep checking the blog as there are lots more pictures coming!
