We're baaaaack!

Im not really sure where to start since it has been almost a year since my last post. I stopped posting when I began to get really sick from pregnancy. As most people know, my pregnancy was chalk full of oddities. Although no diagnosis were ever made, I had protein spills, touch of high blood sugar and a high liver enzyme. It seemed I had a touch of this and that but never enough to give a full diagnosis for anything. The day of my shower at 31 weeks, my water broke, I spent 2 weeks in hospital bedrest until I delivered Cole at 33 weeks. Labor was also interesting as the hospital staff didn't believe I was in labor until I was 7-8 centimeters dialated. Apparently, their monitors weren't working, my belly was soft during contractions due to the tributelene I was given and no one wanted to check to prevent infection. Labor was 16 hours but 24 if you count the time I was contracting before I was given the tributelene. I almost didn't get the epideral. Thankfully I got it and had a pleasant delivery (it was the best experience of the whole pregnancy!). Luckily Cole was 5lbs 7oz at birth. He was only in the NICU for 7 days!

Only a few short weeks after being home, Cole was projectile vomiting several times a day and was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis. It is a fatal condition unless treated surgically. So we were back in the hospital for 4 more days. We were then charged with caring for a postop baby who shouldn't have even been out of the womb for another 2 weeks.

Since I wanted to breastfeed, I was made to pump then feed it to him for several reasons. My pediatrician said it is like feeding twins because you are doing double the work of pumping and then bottle feeding it to him (his wife had twins). And so you see I have a solid case for not posting:)

Since after the surgery, Cole is doing fantastic. He is now in the 90th percentile for his age. I feel we are able to relax more and just have fun. We are just so proud of him. You can see mad pictures of Cole if you go to www.chrisandmisty.com

I am able to take a leave from work to see him grow this year which has been priceless. I wasn't sure how this whole staying home thing was going to work out, but now I am sure to take leave for at least a few more years.

The latest is Cole and I go to BCC Lab School together now. It might be similar to those Mommy and Me classes I've heard about, but not totally sure since Ive never been to those.

Anyway, you can expect regular posts and pics on this blog from now until I am pregnant again (aaaggghhh, I can't believe Im even saying that!)in which case it will likely be another year hiatus from posting.
